Facial Palsy isn’t just about appearance & function, it also can have an enormous impact on emotional well-being.

Studies show that people with facial palsy often experience increased anxiety and/or depression. Referral to a Psychologist or Counsellor can be extremely helpful, and your GP will usually be able to arrange this. It is helpful to describe all of the functional issues that are affecting your daily life when approaching your GP, as they won’t necessarily know much about the long-term effects of facial palsy.
